Serving Kenilworth, IL — Part of Our Lake & McHenry Counties Service Area
Kenilworth is one of the most deliberately planned villages in America. Joseph Sears bought 223.6 acres of Cook County land between the Chicago and North Western Railroad and Lake Michigan in 1889 for $150,300, formed the Kenilworth Company with his associates, and laid out a family-oriented village designed to be the architectural opposite of industrial Chicago. The village reached 300 residents and formally incorporated on February 4, 1896. Today it's still one of the wealthiest and smallest municipalities on the North Shore.
The planning details haven't changed much in 135 years. Streets were oriented to maximize sunlight in every home. Utilities went underground from day one. No alleys were allowed. No fences between properties. Large lots, deep setbacks, tree plantings along every road, and parklands distributed throughout. The train station and Kenilworth Union Church were designed by architect Franklin Burnham. George Washington Maher designed several of the early residences. Frank Lloyd Wright's 1905 Hiram Baldwin House still stands as a Prairie School landmark in the village. According to a 2008 architectural survey, Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival are the most and second-most prevalent styles here — with Queen Anne, Shingle, Prairie School, Richardsonian Romanesque, Victorian, Neo-Classical, and Tudor Gothic all represented along just a few central streets.
For our side of the work, almost every home in Kenilworth is over 80 years old and most are over 100. The surfaces are historic: slate and cedar shake roofs, copper gutters and downspouts, limestone trim, stucco-and-timber exteriors, century-old brick and mortar, flagstone walks, and original wood windows. These are not surfaces you guess at. The pressure that's appropriate for a 1990s vinyl-sided suburban ranch will strip paint, crack mortar, damage old wood, and dent copper. Kenilworth homeowners have lived through bad service calls before, and the architectural bar is set by homes that have been maintained for four generations.

Yes. We clean lakefront siding, decks, boat docks, and seawall pavers regularly. Homes near the water build algae and mildew faster because of the humidity, so we soft-wash siding and use the right pressure for wood decks — no stripping, no damage.
Once a year for siding and decks. Almost every home in the village is over 80 years old and most are over 100. Historic surfaces dominate: slate and cedar shake roofs, copper gutters and downspouts, limestone trim, stucco-and-timber exteriors, century-old brick and mortar, flagstone walks, original wood windows. Pressure that works on modern vinyl subdivisions will strip paint, crack mortar, damage old wood, and dent copper here. Driveways and walkways benefit from a wash every 12 months too.
A typical driveway runs $200–$300. A full house wash is usually $300–$600 depending on size and material. Brick paver restoration and sealing is quoted by square footage. Every quote is free and there are no surprises.
