Serving Wilmette, IL — Part of Our Lake & McHenry Counties Service Area
Wilmette's most distinctive landmark took more than thirty years to complete. The Bahá'í House of Worship on Sheridan Road — a domed Romanesque Revival structure on 6.97 acres of gardens and fountains — was built from a 9-sided design by architect Louis Bourgeois that Bahá'í delegates chose in 1920. Foundation construction began shortly after, the George A. Fuller Company finished the superstructure in 1931, John Joseph Earley executed the concrete cladding through the 1930s and early 40s, and the temple was formally dedicated on May 2, 1953. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, named one of the Seven Wonders of Illinois, and today draws around 250,000 visitors a year.
The village of Wilmette itself was officially incorporated on September 19, 1872, and the downtown still holds the layered architectural evidence of that long history. Two historic districts — the Oak Circle Historic District (listed 2001) and the Ouilmette North Historic District (listed 2005) — preserve significant clusters of pre-war residential work. The former Gross Point Village Hall now houses the Wilmette Historical Society. Prevalent architectural styles include Art Deco (St. Joseph Church, 1939), Tudor Revival (First Congregational Church, 1909), Neo-Gothic (Trinity Methodist, 1928), and Prairie School designs by Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporaries.
The lakefront side of the village is anchored by Gillson Park — 60 acres on Lake Michigan with public beaches, the Wallace Bowl amphitheater, and a marina — plus Wilmette Harbor, which was created during the 1909 North Shore Channel project. Sheridan Road, which runs past the Bahá'í Temple and the park, opened in October 1900. Green Bay Road followed in 1931. Homes along the lakefront side face lake-driven humidity, bluff-side algae, and exposed wood trim that needs regular soft-washing. The inland blocks along Lake Avenue and Central Avenue hold brick Tudors and Colonial Revivals with slate roofs, copper gutters, and cedar trim — the full North Shore historic-home maintenance list.

Yes. We clean lakefront siding, decks, boat docks, and seawall pavers regularly. Homes near the water build algae and mildew faster because of the humidity, so we soft-wash siding and use the right pressure for wood decks — no stripping, no damage.
Once a year for siding and decks. Historic district homes require soft-wash on century-old brick and mortar. Slate, cedar shake, and tile roofs need specialty handling. Copper gutters and downspouts bend easily under standard-tool cleaning. Lake Michigan proximity drives algae on north-facing siding and bluff-adjacent properties. Wilmette Harbor + Gillson Park homes along the lakefront carry full lakefront-humidity maintenance load. Driveways and walkways benefit from a wash every 12 months too.
A typical driveway runs $200–$300. A full house wash is usually $300–$600 depending on size and material. Brick paver restoration and sealing is quoted by square footage. Every quote is free and there are no surprises.
