Serving Glencoe, IL — Part of Our Lake & McHenry Counties Service Area
Glencoe holds the world's third largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright structures — outside of Oak Park and Spring Green, Wisconsin, no place on earth has more Wright buildings than this six-square-mile village. The concentration is centered on the Ravine Bluffs subdivision, commissioned in 1915 by Sherman Booth, Jr. (Wright's attorney) and laid out on a wooded, ravine-carved site. Six Ravine Bluffs houses from 1915-16 survive, along with three concrete subdivision entrance sculptures and a bridge that was rebuilt in 1985. The landscape plan was done by Jens Jensen, the Prairie School landscape architect whose naturalistic style still defines how most of these properties look today. A couple of additional individually commissioned Wright houses sit nearby.
That Wright legacy is the most distinctive thing about Glencoe, but it sits inside a broader North Shore context. The village was incorporated in 1869. Green Bay Road runs up the western edge and carries the village's highest elevation point — 690 feet near the northern border. On the west side, 1,200-plus acres of Cook County Forest Preserve separate the village from the inland grid. The Chicago Botanic Garden sits at the upper northwest corner of Glencoe geographically but is technically just outside the village limits — close enough that the tree canopy and humidity patterns affect homes on the northwestern blocks.
Writers Theatre, in a building designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects and opened in 2016, anchors the downtown cultural district. The housing stock around it spans from Prairie Style landmarks to Colonial and Tudor Revivals, 1950s mid-centuries tucked along the ravines, and a handful of contemporary custom builds on the bluff. Ravine-side cedar and stucco needs specialty soft-wash care. Historic Wright-era limestone and brick mortar cannot take high pressure. And the 58 homes that sit on the Glencoe-Winnetka border have a municipal-service choice not much of Cook County can claim.

Yes. We clean lakefront siding, decks, boat docks, and seawall pavers regularly. Homes near the water build algae and mildew faster because of the humidity, so we soft-wash siding and use the right pressure for wood decks — no stripping, no damage.
Once a year for siding and decks. Historic Wright-era limestone, brick, and stucco mortar cannot take high pressure. Ravine-side cedar and stucco needs specialty soft-wash care. Prairie Style wood detailing requires low-pressure treatment to avoid compromising the finish. Chicago Botanic Garden tree canopy affects northwest-corner homes with heavier leaf load and shade-driven algae. Forest Preserve adjacency on the west side drops leaves into gutters at higher volume than typical suburban service areas. Driveways and walkways benefit from a wash every 12 months too.
A typical driveway runs $200–$300. A full house wash is usually $300–$600 depending on size and material. Brick paver restoration and sealing is quoted by square footage. Every quote is free and there are no surprises.
