Serving Grayslake, IL — Part of Our Lake & McHenry Counties Service Area
Grayslake traces back to 1840, when William M. Gray settled on the banks of the then-unnamed lake that now bears his name — Grays Lake, bounded today by Route 120, Lake Street, Harvey Avenue, and Alleghany Road. The village officially incorporated in 1895, making it one of the older Lake County municipalities. What sets Grayslake apart from its neighbors, though, isn't the age — it's what's been built on top of that heritage. Prairie Crossing, which broke ground in 1996 on land purchased by its founders back in 1987, is one of the country's best-known conservation-development communities: a 677-acre planned neighborhood with 359 single-family homes and 36 condominiums, where over 60% of the land was set aside as protected open space, including 160 acres of restored prairie, created wetlands, and organic farmland within walking distance of the houses.
That conservation ethos runs through the village. The 1,200-acre Rollins Savannah forest preserve on the edge of town has trails through wetlands and a bird observation deck. Central Park in the downtown holds the Esper A. Petersen Family Aquatic Center (opened 2000), the Daniel Barry Skate Park, the village library, sports fields, and a disc golf course. The College of Lake County sits on the north side of the village. And downtown Grayslake, centered on Center Street and Washington Street, holds a mix of turn-of-the-century commercial buildings and century-old homes that still anchor the historic district.
For power washing, the housing mix is as wide as the village's history. Prairie Crossing homes range from 1,407 square feet to 4,840 square feet — a big spread on siding material, roofing, deck type, and driveway surface. Station Square at Prairie Crossing is a 2007-2012 condo building with a different cleaning profile than the single-family side of the development. Downtown Grayslake still has century-old brick storefronts and older Victorian-era homes that need soft-wash treatment to protect old mortar. The postwar ranches and mid-century splits in the older neighborhoods need a gentler approach than the vinyl-clad 1990s-2000s subdivisions that ring the village.

Yes. We clean lakefront siding, decks, boat docks, and seawall pavers regularly. Homes near the water build algae and mildew faster because of the humidity, so we soft-wash siding and use the right pressure for wood decks — no stripping, no damage.
Once a year for siding and decks. Historic brick downtown needs soft-wash to protect old mortar; Prairie Crossing's mix of home sizes (1,407-4,840 sq ft) means different pressure profiles on the same street; heavy wetland adjacency at Rollins Savannah drives algae and mildew on north-facing siding; older Victorian and turn-of-the-century homes need gentler soft-wash than vinyl subdivisions. Driveways and walkways benefit from a wash every 12 months too.
A typical driveway runs $200–$300. A full house wash is usually $300–$600 depending on size and material. Brick paver restoration and sealing is quoted by square footage. Every quote is free and there are no surprises.
